We Lived in a Former One Room Schoolhouse

It had already been lived in and the prior owners were there for 25 years. We immediately knew what we wanted to change-the kitchen. The home  had a small feel at first . The ceilings had been dropped and were dull and smoky.

Started with Faux chimney and wall in the way.

TEAR OUT The DROPPED CEILINGS
Before we moved in the dropped ceilings were ripped out and the original ceilings were scrubbed, first with industrial cleaner  then  with Murpheys Oil Soap. Now the kitchen was small, with a room to the right that was like a small den with a former wood stove  setup. The wall came down and there  was no more den, the faux look to the chimney was removed, we found and Old  Cookstove and set that up and went about our plans.  The one Wall cabinet in the kitchen would find a home in the new kitchen. We  made all the cabinets and shelves after walls were taken down and redone after rewiring. Did I tell you the ceilings were eleven and one half feet high? And they were varnished wood bead board.
