This bed had Squash, Zuchinni, Melons, – note the Delicata Squash

The First Bed is for Later Planting- It was one of the new Raised Beds. This soil was better prepared than the new spring bed . Note the Squash and Tomatoes

Here are some views of our garden this year–  our second year here in Upstate South Carolina.  All told we  virtually stopped buying vegetables  in April. And I must say the new beds were just that- Red Clay with some organic matter. Barely a good start but that’s what start means, isn’t it.
Then we were cold and it didn’t warm up like most years do– But we can NOT complain.  Here in the  YEAR OF THE DROUGHT as it has become known we were able to feed ourselves very well from April thru and while I am posting this on October 30, we are NOT done gardening yet.  Check this out :

This was a later planning in the Spring Green Early bed. Here is some Okra, Broccoli, Collared Greens, and you can see the Green Beans on the fence.

Here was the August planting of Broccoli, Celery, Carrots, Redichio. Brussel Sprouts.
